Hi, I’m Adenike, but you can call me Addy.

Before Cherished One Boutique, before esthetics, before skincare, and before I ever imagined having my own storefront, there was a little girl working alongside her mother.

I started working at my mother’s restaurant when I was just nine years old. By the time I was twelve, I was training her employees.

Looking back now, I realize those early experiences were teaching me things that would eventually become a huge part of who I am today: leadership, responsibility, service, attention to detail, and most importantly, how to make people feel welcomed and cared for.

I didn’t know it then, but I was learning how to create an experience.

A Heart for Caring

In 2010, I began my journey in healthcare.

Over the years, I worked in different areas of care, including hospice and assisted living. I administered medications, supported people through vulnerable moments, and cared for individuals who needed patience, compassion, and genuine human connection.

Healthcare taught me so much about people.

It taught me how meaningful it is to care for another person. It taught me that sometimes the smallest act of kindness can completely change someone's day. It taught me to listen, pay attention to the details, and treat people with dignity.

But over time, I began to feel that something was missing.

I wanted to care for people in a way that felt more personal. I wanted to create an environment where people weren't simply being serviced, but genuinely seen.

I wanted to have a greater role in cultivating an environment where people could feel good about themselves and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

That desire became the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey.

From Cherished Minks to Esthetics

In 2017, I started my first beauty business, Cherished Minks, in White Plains, NY.

At the time, I was still discovering exactly what my path would look like. Then I went to school for esthetics, and everything clicked.

I fell completely in love with skincare and facials and with the ability to help someone feel better about themselves through intentional care.

I was hooked.

What started as an interest quickly became a passion. I immersed myself in skincare and continued learning, growing, and perfecting my craft.

Along the way, I had the opportunity to work in many amazing places and alongside incredible people. Each experience taught me something new and helped shape the esthetician and entrepreneur I am today.

Then I discovered another part of my purpose.

I loved teaching.

As a New York State Esthetics Educator, I had the privilege of teaching and preparing aspiring estheticians who were working toward becoming licensed professionals.

I wasn't simply teaching techniques. I was helping future estheticians build their knowledge, confidence, professionalism, and understanding of the industry.

That experience was incredibly meaningful to me.

It reminded me of that little girl who was training employees in her mother's restaurant at twelve years old.

I had always been a teacher.

I just didn't know it yet.

Education became another part of my purpose. I realized that I didn't just love performing treatments. I loved explaining the why behind skincare. I loved helping people understand their skin and watching someone's confidence grow when they finally understood what they were doing and why they were doing it.

That passion for education continues to influence the way I care for my clients today.

Why Cherished One?

The word cherish has always meant something deeply personal to me.

My name is Adenike, and my name means “the crown is cherished.”

As I grew older, I began to understand that the meaning of my name was more than just a definition. It felt like a message.

The crown is cherished. And so are you.

To me, the crown represents something precious, valuable, worthy of care, and worthy of honor.

And if the crown is cherished, then so are the women who wear it.

You are cherished.

That is where Cherished One comes from.

It is a reminder that you are worthy of being cared for, worthy of being seen, worthy of being poured into, and worthy of taking up space exactly as you are.

I didn't want to create a brand that simply talked about beauty.

I wanted to create a place that made women feel cherished.

A place where you can come as you are, receive intentional care, learn about your skin, reconnect with yourself, and walk back out into the world feeling confident in who you are.

Because you are not just another client.

You are a Cherished One.

And together, we are the cherished ones.

That became more than a name.

It became the heart of everything I do.

Coming Home to New Rochelle

My journey eventually took me to the city, where I continued to grow personally and professionally.

Then, in 2020, I moved to New Rochelle.

Through changes in the world and changes in my own life, I found myself planting roots in the community that would eventually become home to Cherished One Boutique.

But my storefront didn't happen overnight.

Before there was a boutique, there was simply me, my passion, and a desire to continue serving my clients.

I began providing services from my home, continuing to build my business one client, one treatment, and one relationship at a time.

Those years taught me that you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Sometimes you have to start with what you have and trust that the vision will grow.

And it did.

Over time, the dream became bigger.

I knew I wanted a space where I could create an entire experience, not just provide a service.

I wanted a place where clients could come in, breathe, feel welcomed, learn about their skin, receive intentional care, and leave feeling renewed.

Then, in 2025, that dream became a reality.

I opened the doors to the Cherished One Boutique storefront in New Rochelle.

For me, opening that storefront wasn't simply about having a physical location.

It represented years of work.

Years of learning.

Years of serving.

Years of believing in a vision before everyone else could see it.

It was a full-circle moment.

The little girl who started working at her mother's restaurant at nine.

The young girl who was training employees by twelve.

The healthcare professional who spent years caring for others.

The entrepreneur who started Cherished Minks in 2017.

The esthetics student who fell in love with skincare.

The esthetician who continued to learn and grow.

The educator who taught aspiring estheticians on their journey toward becoming licensed professionals.

And finally, the woman who returned home to New Rochelle and built a space of her own.

All of those versions of me are part of Cherished One.

More Than a Beauty Boutique

Cherished One Boutique is for the woman who has never felt like she quite fit the mold.

The woman who has spent too much time comparing herself to everyone else.

The woman who has been told, directly or indirectly, what she should look like, how she should age, what her skin should look like, or who she should become.

I created this space because I believe you were never meant to blend in.

You were meant to stand out.

Here, skincare is personal.

Your skin has a story.

Your needs are different.

Your lifestyle is different.

Your goals are different.

So your care should be different, too.

I want every woman who walks through these doors to feel comfortable being exactly who she is.

I want you to feel educated, not pressured.

Cared for, not rushed.

Seen, not overlooked.

And when you leave, I want you to feel a little more confident than when you arrived.

Because sometimes taking care of your skin is about so much more than skincare.

Sometimes it is about giving yourself permission to slow down.

Sometimes it is about finally putting yourself on the list.

Sometimes it is about looking in the mirror and remembering who you are.

And sometimes, it is simply about having a place where someone takes the time to care for you.

My Why

When I look back at my journey, I can see that none of the chapters were separate.

The nine-year-old girl working in her mother's restaurant.

The twelve-year-old learning how to lead and train others.

The healthcare professional caring for people through some of their most vulnerable moments.

The entrepreneur who started Cherished Minks in 2017.

The esthetics student who fell completely in love with skincare.

The esthetician who continued to grow through countless experiences.

The NYS Esthetics Educator who had the privilege of preparing future licensed professionals.

The woman who built her business from home in New Rochelle.

And finally, the woman who opened the doors to her own storefront in 2025.

They were all preparing me for this.

Service.

Leadership.

Care.

Beauty.

Education.

Connection.

They all led me here.

To Cherished One Boutique.

Today, I am incredibly grateful to have built this business from the ground up and to finally have a space where my vision can live beyond the treatment room.

A place where beauty is intentional.

Where skincare is personal.

Where education empowers you.

Where confidence is cultivated.

Where you can walk through the door exactly as you are.

And where you never have to question whether you belong.

Because you do.
